Lacey Squier

Manager, Boundary Waters Connect

Lacey grew up in the small town of Hutchinson in rural, south central Minnesota. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College, and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. Prior to moving to Ely in 2019, she lived and worked in Saint Paul. These experiences instilled in Lacey a passion for community development, and a fondness for rural living. 

Lacey is honored to serve as the Manager of Boundary Waters Connect, because she knows well what it feels like to be new. She has experienced the challenges that new residents face, and believes in the value of community development as a tool for economic growth.

Jess Kulik 

Communications & Administration, Boundary Waters Connect

Jess grew up in Chicagoland with strong family ties to rural Indiana and Illinois, as well as Ely, Minnesota. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Carthage College, a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from National Louis University, and a Master of Science in Digital Audience Strategy from Arizona State University. Prior to moving to Ely in 2023, she lived and worked as a teacher in Chicago. These experiences instilled in Jess a passion for education as a tool for community development, and a particular fondness for the towns on the edge of the Wilderness. 

Jess is honored to serve as the Communications & Administrative Coordinator for Boundary Waters Connect because she has unique insight to the profound importance of storytelling, systems, and processes in the effective functioning of an organization.
