Chapman Street Block Party
 Fall is in full swing! With it comes a wonderful array of seasonal traditions (pumpkin roll at Brainstorm Bakery, anyone?!?). I spent some of the morning walking with my dog, Wendell. We took our usual route and I marveled at the stunning colors and autumnal energy in Ely.
Another wonderful seasonal tradition? The Chapman Street Block Party! See you at Puddle Jumper Park this coming Wednesday, October 7, 5:00 - 7:00pm, rain or shine.
We are proud to partner with Potluck Kitchenware to host this free community event designed to shine a light on Chapman Street and the people who love it. What Chapman Street Block Party attendees can expect:
Free beverages (pop, bubble waters, beer & seltzers). A toast to Ely's original downtown thoroughfare, Chapman Street. Free appetizers (a selection of 12 unique bite size delights, catered by Boundary Waters Kitchen & Market, and distributed across various locations). Free dessert (catered by Boundary Waters Kitchen & Market). A selection of free games courtesy of Ely Young Life. An interactive scavenger hunt (people who participate will be entered in drawing to win a prize). Live music by the Chicka-dee-dee-dees. A community art project, designed and facilitated by Jane Dandron-Holtz. Stunning balloon decor provided by Color Social. Photography by Boreal Roots Media (be advised, photos will be taken at this event. If you would not like to have your photo taken, let Brett know). Opportunities to meet new people and connect with friends.
Just like last year, the block party is happening in conjunction with Public Safety Night, which is scheduled 3:00 to 6:00pm on the top of the hill at our fire station. Additionally, the Chapman Street Block Party marks the official one year anniversary of Boundary Waters Kitchen & Market in their location on Chapman Street. Let us all celebrate with them by enjoying their unique culinary delights!

Ely Echo
The Ely Echo has proudly published a weekly newspaper here since 1972. We also publish the North Country Saver (a total-market-coverage advertising product delivered in a wide area around Ely) and, in summer the North Country Angler, a fishing publication. The office also offers printing, copying, faxing, photo printing, design, maps/guides, subscriptions, and advertising services. Hours are 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday and until 3 p.m. Friday. Print and PDF email subscriptions are available; our website (elyecho.com) is free to browse but carries only a portion of each week’s content. We also produce the Pulse of Ely podcast and a weekday local sports podcast. An annual Progress Edition, launched in 1995, highlights local businesses and community projects. The Ely Echo is a small, family-rooted community newspaper and print/media shop that functions as Ely’s hometown paper of record, official legal publication, and a source of local advertising and services.

94.5 WELY serves one of the most beautiful and remote areas in the country – the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and surrounding communities.
